As I’ve been hosting groups on relationships and boundaries, people often bring up the five love languages, brought to us by the underqualified, homophobic, bigoted Gary Chapman.

Every time he comes up, and the five love languages come up, I see people’s posture sink. Shoulders in, eyes aloof, zero smiles involved.

We clearly find some value in the framework of the five love languages since folks keep using it, but I think most of us feel that it falls short.

And, unfortunately for many, it’s all they have.

So, I am interested in starting and facilitating conversations, both in groups and one on one, on what we actually need to feel loved.

And, I want to come up with something that people can use, feels good, and has more to stand on than Gary’s weird cis-patriarchal-heteronormative ideologies.
